Our brewers carefully select varieties of hops from around the world to ensure we have the right hop for the right job and at the right time in the brewing process. This is how we ensure our lagers are always flavoursome, balanced and thirst-quenching.
From England: Challenger and First Gold are used in our Freedom Authentic
From Germany: subtle, classic flavours of the Hallertau tradition in Organic Helles, and Perle in King Koln
From the Czech Republic: Saaz in our Liberty Pils
From America: big and bold, grapefruit flavours of the Chinook, Cascade and Centennial hops in our East India Pale
Under the direction of our Brew Master, Jonathan Smith, our brewers add different hops at different stages of the brewing process to give varying degrees of hop aroma and bitterness, depending on beer style and desired flavour profile. For example, at the kettling stage we add hops for bitterness, while hops added at the whirlpool stage add aroma.
